Waves and me

The sea is not always
friendly,
the waves don't always
girdle you warmly
but they don't get
away from you
nor do I.
If I have to claim
as my own
it's never a spot
or waves, it's 
the entire sea 
that's mine.  It calls 
me out to take the challenge
and I plunge headlong
and still come up to feel
the throbbing of my veins
and that's not of the sea.
Entirely mine.
